In 16th century England, two girls are born, one the daughter and heir to King Henry VIII, the other to a common family of rogues. By chance, they encounter each other as adolescents and are amazed to discover how identical they look. They put it to the test by swapping their clothes, marvelling at how much the similarity holds up. Circumstances conspire to trap each of them in their new roles, forcing each to adapt to their new surroundings and learning how complicated each of their lives are.
